An Editorial At Middleton Lodge

Couples: Hannah and Sam and Lauren and Fabien.

As an editorial documentary wedding photographer, I’ve been lucky enough to work in some truly beautiful places—but Middleton Lodge will always sit firmly at the top of my list. There’s something about this Georgian estate that blends timeless elegance with a warm, lived-in charm, creating the perfect backdrop for honest, atmospheric storytelling.

One of the first things that captured my heart is the staircase. It feels like it was built for photography—sweeping, sculptural and bathed in the kind of natural light that flatters every couple. Whether it’s a quiet moment during bridal prep or a dramatic portrait later in the day, that staircase never fails to deliver images with depth and character.

Then there’s the intimate ballroom. I adore how it transforms for dinner: soft candlelight, clinking glasses and guests tucked into heartfelt conversations. It’s a space that holds emotion beautifully, giving me endless opportunities to document the real, in-between moments that say so much about a wedding day.

Of course, the grandeur of the house itself is impossible to ignore. The architecture offers a cinematic backdrop at every turn—grand yet inviting, stately without ever feeling imposing. It frames portraits effortlessly and brings a sense of occasion to even the most spontaneous shots.

And for someone who prioritises bridal prep as much as I do, the bridal suite is a dream. The light, the space, the calm—everything about it allows the morning to unfold naturally while giving me the perfect environment to capture those quiet, meaningful moments that often become a couple’s most treasured images.

Middleton Lodge has an atmosphere that simply elevates a wedding day. It’s elegant, soulful and endlessly inspiring—a venue that lets stories unfold in the most beautiful way. And as a photographer, that’s everything.
